The first to sign up is a business called ‘Cofresco’, a Division of Melitta UK, brand owners of Bacofoil and Wrapmaster and are based in Hortonwood, Telford.

Cofresco recently formed a sustainability champions committee, and Libby Coe, sustainability manager at Cofresco, said: “Our sustainability champions are cross-functional colleagues dedicated to improving our workplace and local environment.

“Partnering with Telford & Wrekin Council through the workplace champions scheme has been invaluable, providing us with equipment and guidance on litter picking and disposal. “The Cofresco and Melitta UK teams have found the litter picks rewarding and enjoyable, giving them an opportunity to engage with one another in the fresh air and making the local area a nicer place for everyone.”

Councillor Raj Mehta, (Lab) Cabinet Member for Inclusion, Engagement, Equalities & Civic Pride said: “We are pleased to have got this off the ground with our first, dedicated and enthusiastic groups of champions.

With their help and other teams like them, we can not only enhance our local environment but also foster a sense of community among businesses and their employees making Telford and Wrekin a cleaner, greener and safer place to live.
