Vote for favourite flag design
Flag designs inspired by the creations of children are going out to a public vote for people to choose the official Telford flag.
After more than 1,000 schoolchildren took part in a competition back in June to design a flag for the Borough, judges have now whittled down the entries to the final four flags.
An online poll has launched today (Monday 20 October), and people have until Sunday 2 November to vote for their favourite design to represent Telford and Wrekin.
School teachers will be asked to submit votes on behalf of school pupils directly, which will be fed into the final results.
Councillor Lee Carter, Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, said:
"All of the children who took part in our competition have done fantastically well and the four finalists deserve special praise for their work which has inspired the designs for the final flags.
“We've got so much to be proud of both nationally and locally in Telford and Wrekin and I hope people will take part in the public vote to choose the flag they feel best represents the Borough.”
The four young finalists were invited to meet with a professional designer to look at how their drawings could be the interpreted into a flag design to meet the Flag Institute guidelines, which include keeping it simple, using meaningful symbolism and using two or three basic colours.
People can vote for their winning flag online.
Only one vote is allowed per email address.
The school of the winning flag design will be rewarded with £250 courtesy of Telford Live to go towards further arts and culture activities at the school.
