Two more Telford green spaces achieve prestigious Green Flag status
Residents of Telford and Wrekin have another reason to feel proud, as two additional green spaces have achieved the internationally recognised Green Flag Award, celebrating the very best in well-managed green spaces.
Ketley Paddock Mound Local Nature Reserve and The Beeches & Lodge Fields Local Nature Reserves (entered as a single site) were both announced as new recipients today (14 July 2026), recognised for their high environmental standards, excellent management and outstanding value to the community.
This success brings the total number of Green Flag Award sites managed by Telford & Wrekin Council to an impressive ten.
Councillor Carolyn Healy, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Planning & Sustainability, said:
“Having one green space receive a Green Flag Award is a fantastic achievement, but to now have ten across the Borough is truly remarkable and a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in caring for our green spaces.
“From our park teams and our contractors at idverde, to our fantastic volunteers and Friends groups, this recognition is richly deserved.
“These spaces are so important to our communities, they give people somewhere to get active, unwind and spend time with family and friends, while also supporting wildlife and helping people feel more connected to nature. We know how much residents value them, so it’s wonderful to see them recognised on an international stage.”
The Green Flag Award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces and highlights locations that are welcoming, safe, well-maintained and have strong community involvement.

Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award Manager at Keep Britain Tidy, said:
“Parks are essential public spaces that support our wellbeing, our communities and our economy. Yet for millions of people, particularly in the most deprived areas, local parks simply don’t feel safe or welcoming.
“With public services under pressure, investing in parks is not a luxury, it’s a practical, preventative solution and one of the most visible ways to improve people’s quality of life.
“Telford & Wrekin Council have shown what can be achieved when parks are properly supported and managed. As we celebrate 30 years of the Green Flag Award, we want every community to have access to green spaces like this that are safe, welcoming and maintained to a high standard.
"Congratulations to everyone involved."
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under contract from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
