The free two-day event welcomed families, residents and visitors to enjoy live music and entertainment, following investment by Telford & Wrekin Council to restore and revive the much-loved venue.

For many residents, the weekend was a nostalgic moment as the Amphitheatre once again echoed with live music and crowds, decades after it established itself as a popular destination for outdoor performances and community events.

The reopening forms part of Telford & Wrekin Council's continued commitment to investing in the Borough's cultural, leisure and community facilities, creating spaces where people can come together, enjoy local talent and make new memories for generations to come.

Residents were quick to praise the transformation and return of the venue, with comments including: "What a fantastic afternoon! Thank you for restoring this great venue", "We are so lucky for the facilities we have in Telford and Wrekin", "It was so lovely to see this gorgeous venue being used again. Lovely afternoon" and "Well done. What a wonderful thing to do for our town."

Musicians performing over the weekend also reflected on the significance of the occasion. Shades of Grey said they were "proud to be the first band to perform here since the 2000s", while Caradoc & The Loachra described feeling "honoured and proud to be performing at this amazing facility." Stomping Jacks added that performing at the Amphitheatre "once was a dream to be doing this."

Councillor Angela McClements, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism, Culture and the Arts, said: "This weekend marked a truly special moment for Telford and Wrekin. The Amphitheatre holds a special place in the hearts of many residents, and it has been wonderful to see it brought back to life after so many years.

"The fantastic turnout demonstrates how much people value opportunities to come together and enjoy culture, entertainment and community events in unique spaces like this.

"The Council has invested in restoring this much-loved venue as part of our wider commitment to enhancing the borough and investing in facilities that matter to residents. Seeing thousands of people enjoying the Amphitheatre once again shows just how important these investments are.

"I'd like to thank everyone who attended, our amazing performers, and the dedicated theatre teams, technicians, security staff, volunteers and council colleagues whose hard work made the reopening such a success."

The reopening supports the Council's wider ambitions through its Investing in Telford and Wrekin programme, which focuses on what matters most to residents and ensures investment is directed where it can make the biggest difference. The programme is another example of how the Council uses its budget to support thriving communities, improve local facilities and create opportunities for residents to enjoy high-quality experiences close to home.

Looking ahead, the next two weeks will see a packed programme of entertainment at Telford Town Park Amphitheatre, including family favourites such as The Wind in the Willows, Out of the Box, The Gingerbread Man, Robin Hood Rescues the Forest and Comedy Club 4 Kids, ensuring there are plenty of opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy live performances throughout the summer holidays

While keeping Council Tax the lowest in the Midlands, around 70p of every £1 Telford & Wrekin Council spends goes towards protecting and supporting vulnerable children, people with disabilities and older residents.

At the same time, millions of pounds are being invested to improve the things residents rely on every day, including better homes and roads, expanded schools, improved bus services and support for local high streets.
