Thomas Telford Primary School opens
Children at Thomas Telford Primary School have returned from the summer holidays to a brand-new state-of-the-art school building, marking a significant milestone for education provision in the growing Priorslee community.
The school, under the stewardship of the Thomas Telford Multi Academy Trust, first opened in temporary accommodation in September last year following investment of £4.75 million secured by Telford & Wrekin Council through section 106 developer contributions.
The school welcomed 60 new starters into the reception class earlier this month, as well as welcoming back those who joined the school in September last year.
The new school building provides modern classrooms, high-quality indoor and outdoor learning spaces, and excellent facilities for play, sport, and wider enrichment, creating a modern and inspiring environment designed to support teaching and learning.
Once fully occupied, the school will provide places for up to 420 primary aged pupils and 26 nursery places, helping to meet the increasing demand for school places in one of the Borough's fastest-growing areas, ensuring more children can access an excellent local school close to home.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said:
