Telford & Wrekin Music opens new home at Holmer Lake Primary School
Children and young people across Telford and Wrekin can now access music lessons and activities at Telford & Wrekin Music's new home at Holmer Lake Primary School.
The move marks an exciting new chapter for the service, providing a dedicated base to support children and young people in developing their musical interests and talents.
The Telford & Wrekin Council service is open to children and young people aged 0 to 19, and up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Students can learn a wide range of instruments, including guitar, bass, drums, piano, strings, brass, woodwind, keyboard and ukulele.
Telford & Wrekin Music delivers instrumental and vocal lessons in around 90 per cent of schools across the Borough. The service offers individual and group instrumental tuition, whole-class music teaching, school workshops and curriculum delivery. It also provides opportunities for home educated children and learners experiencing barriers to regular school attendance.
From its new home at Holmer Lake Primary School, the service is now able to offer greater flexibility, with lessons available during the school day, as well as before and after school. With the Music Centre now up and running, children and young people who are home schooled or are unable to access lessons elsewhere can learn the same range of instruments, with lessons available during the school day, after school and at weekends. Lessons are subsidised through Arts Council funding, helping to keep costs affordable.
The relocation supports the council's 10 by 10 programme, which encourages children to play an instrument before the age of 10, helping to build confidence, creativity and a lifelong enjoyment of music.

"It was wonderful to see young people developing their musical talents in such a welcoming environment and enjoying all the benefits that music can bring.
"The new centre is a fantastic addition and supports our commitment to giving children and young people the best possible opportunities to learn, develop new skills and reach their full potential."
