The Council is working with a range of partners to ensure help spans beyond household finances to help with employment and health and wellbeing too.

The message forms part of the Council's ongoing Telford Works with You campaign, recognising that many residents across the Borough are already working hard - balancing jobs, childcare or caring responsibilities - and ensuring that their effort is met with support that's easy to find and simple to access.

Through the Council's cost of living pages and work with local partners, residents can find practical help all in one place. For those in work but feeling the squeeze, or looking for a change, Job Box connects residents directly with local employers and vacancies, while Access to Work offers additional support for people with a health condition or disability to get into, or stay in, employment.

The Council is also continuing to invest in the wider economy, with Invest Telford supporting local businesses to grow and create well-paid jobs for residents – helping to ensure that opportunity in the Borough isn't limited to any one sector or postcode.

For households feeling the pressure of bills, the Crisis and Resilience Fund has replaced the Household Support Fund from April 2026, continuing to provide a safety net for residents facing financial hardship, alongside existing support such as Council Tax Reduction, Discretionary Housing Payments and free school meal eligibility checks.

Beyond this targeted support, every resident already benefits from the Council's wider Borough-wide offer, designed to keep everyday life more affordable for everyone. This includes the lowest council tax in the Midlands, Family Hubs offering support for families with children of all ages, and garden waste collection at no additional charge. Shoppers and visitors benefit from free parking in district centres, while the £2 bus fare commitment is helping to deliver over one million affordable journeys across the Borough. There's plenty to enjoy too, with free and affordable events running throughout the year, from Balloon Fiesta to Telford Day, alongside an excellent Leisure offer, Happy Healthy Active Holidays for families during school breaks, and dedicated support for the Armed Forces community.

Wellbeing runs through the whole approach too. The Telford Loyalty Card offers discounts on leisure centres and activities across the Borough, while the Healthy Lifestyles service and Year of Wellbeing initiative help residents make small, sustainable changes that improve how they feel, both in and out of the workplace.
