Telford Krazy Races returns by popular demand in 2027

Telford & Wrekin Council and Krazy Races are delighted to announce that Telford Krazy Races will return to Telford Town Park on Sunday 11 July 2027, following the huge success of the event's first visit to the town earlier this year.

The inaugural event welcomed around 7,000 spectators and 26 teams to Telford Town Park for a day of gravity-powered racing, outrageous costumes and creative homemade karts. Team places sold out months before race day, and the event raised more than £10,000 for local good causes, including over £1,000 for headline charity Lingen Davies Cancer Support's Sunflower Appeal.

With organisers expecting spaces to disappear just as quickly for 2027, applications are now open to local businesses, schools, colleges, community groups, charities, families and groups of friends.

Teams will once again design and build their own handcrafted soapbox karts before taking on a downhill course full of twists, turns, chicanes and obstacles. Awards will be up for grabs across categories including Fastest Kart, Best Design, Best Performance and the Public Vote, because at Krazy Races, speed isn't everything.

Visitors can look forward to a full day of racing, food and drink, and family entertainment at one of Telford's most popular green spaces, delivered once again in partnership with Telford & Wrekin Council.

Danny Scoffin, Head of Business at Krazy Races, said: "We always hoped Telford would embrace Krazy Races, but the response to our first event was beyond anything we could have expected. We want to put on record our huge thanks to Telford & Wrekin Council for taking a chance on us and for bringing us back again, an event like this is only possible with their support.

"We saw some amazing teams last year who have set the bar very high, so now we're challenging you to come up with something we've never seen before. Have you got what it takes to build it, race it and go Krazy?"

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, said: "We're delighted to be welcoming Telford Krazy Races back to Telford Town Park in 2027 after such a fantastic debut event. Bringing it back reflects our commitment to delivering exciting events that give residents and visitors more reasons to spend time in Telford, support our local economy and enjoy everything our borough has to offer. There's already a great deal of enthusiasm for next year's event, and we're looking forward to seeing even more imaginative teams take part."

Jodi Cartwright, Director of Cartwrights Waste Disposal Services Ltd, said: “We absolutely loved being involved with Krazy Races in Telford this year. It was such a brilliant day, the atmosphere was amazing and it was great to see so many local businesses and families getting behind it. Our team had an absolute blast.

“As a local family business, we love supporting events that bring people into Telford and get the community together, so we’re really excited to hear Krazy Races is coming back in 2027. I’d definitely encourage other local businesses to get involved – it’s great fun, great exposure and a fantastic event to be part of.”

Local businesses will also have the opportunity to get involved through sponsorship and partnership opportunities, putting their brand in front of thousands of spectators.
