Telford Balloon Fiesta returned to Telford Town Park over the Bank Holiday weekend, bringing hot air balloons, live entertainment, family activities and community celebrations to one of Telford’s biggest annual events.
The three-day Fiesta, which ran from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August, got underway with the popular Night Glow on Friday evening, which was once again a sell-out. 7,500 people attended the ticketed event, enjoying an evening of family entertainment before the spectacular Night Glow saw the balloons light up to music in the QEII Arena.
The Fiesta continued on Saturday and Sunday with two days of free entertainment, activities, food and drink, aerial displays and, of course, the opportunity to see hot air balloons taking to the skies above Telford Town Park.
Despite changeable weather conditions over the weekend, balloon flights were successfully staged on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, with 37 balloons launching across both Saturday and Sunday morning.
Sunday also saw the return of the Telford Community Carnival, bringing colour, music and creativity to the Fiesta as community groups took part in the carnival procession and celebrations.
Across the weekend visitors could enjoy The Wings Parachute Team, live music, stunt displays and family activities alongside a range of food, drink and market stalls.
Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism & Leisure said: “Despite the challenging weather we experienced throughout the weekend, it was fantastic to see the Telford Balloon Fiesta go ahead and to see balloons taking to the skies on both Saturday and Sunday morning.
“I’d like to thank everyone who supported this year’s Fiesta, particularly our event teams, balloon pilots, performers, volunteers, traders and partners, as well as everyone who wrapped up, put on their waterproofs and joined us.
“The Balloon Fiesta is a wonderful opportunity to bring people together and showcase Telford Town Park, and I’m delighted that, despite the weather, we were able to deliver another memorable weekend for our residents and visitors.”
The Telford Balloon Fiesta is one of Telford & Wrekin Council’s signature annual events and forms part of the Council’s wider programme of culture and events taking place across the Borough throughout the year. Find out what else is happening during 2026 by visiting www.visittelford.co.uk/whats-on
