Telford and Wrekin students celebrate A-Level results
Congratulations are in order as young people across Telford and Wrekin receive their A-Level and equivalent qualification results today (Thurs).
Hundreds of students across the borough have successfully completed A-Levels, BTECs, and T-Levels, marking a significant milestone in their educational journey.
Telford College has celebrated another strong set of results for its A-Level, T-Level, technical and vocational courses.
The A-Level pass rate was the college’s best since 2021, and the percentage of high-grade pass rates from A* to C was also its highest in four years.
There were 100% pass rates across a wide range of A-Level subject areas, including English language, geography, geology and sociology.
Lawrence Wood, Telford College Principal and Chief Executive, said:
“I would like to wish all of our students receiving their results today all the very best for the next part of their journey.
“They have worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and can now progress with confidence.
“Many are heading to university and apprenticeships to take their studies and skills to the next level. We are all very proud of what they have achieved.”
Meanwhile Haberdashers' Abraham Darby in Telford is proud to report further improvements in both academic and vocational outcomes, reflecting the hard work and dedication of its pupils over the past two years.
12.5% of the school’s A-Level entries achieved A* and A grades and 70% A*-C grades.
Vocational qualifications also saw remarkable success, with more than 40% of BTEC entries receiving Distinction or Distinction* grades and 80% Merit or higher, demonstrating the breadth of talent across the different pathways.
Joe Edgar, Haberdashers' Abraham Darby Principal, said:
“We are extremely proud of the achievements of each and every one of our pupils and we wish them every success for the future as they embark upon the next stage of their journeys (university, degree apprenticeships and employment).
“The school community shares in this pride, recognising the contributions this group of pupils have made to academy life alongside their academic success.”
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment & Skills, said:
“Congratulations to every student across Telford and Wrekin who has worked so hard to achieve their qualifications. Whether academic or vocational, these results reflect their commitment and resilience.
“We wish them all the very best as they take their next steps into further education, training, or employment.
“I also want to thank the parents, carers, teachers and governors who have played a vital role in supporting our young people.
“It’s fantastic to see these successes aligning with the launch of our Stay Near, Go Far campaign, a reminder that young people in Telford and Wrekin have access to an incredible range of local opportunities in education, training, and careers and our young people don’t have to move away to succeed, they can go far, right here.”
