Telford and Wrekin Community Lottery celebrates eight years of supporting local good causes
The Telford and Wrekin Community Lottery (TWINCL) is celebrating a double milestone after marking its eighth year and raising an incredible £262,329 for more than 80 charities, volunteer groups and community organisations across the Borough.
Since launching in 2018, the lottery has helped channel vital funding directly into local communities, supporting projects and services that benefit thousands of residents.
TWINCL has become an important source of funding for local organisations, helping them continue vital services, develop new projects and make a positive difference in communities across the Borough. This achievement has only been possible thanks to the continued support of lottery players who choose to support good causes while having the chance to win cash prizes.
TWINCL is a weekly online lottery offering residents the chance to win prizes of up to £25,000 for just £1 per ticket. Importantly, 60p from every ticket sold goes directly to local causes, giving players a simple and rewarding way to support their community. Draws take place every Saturday night, with results available online and winners contacted by email. Since launching in 2018, TWINCL players have also won almost £69,000 in cash prizes.
Councillor Paul Davis, Telford & Wrekin Council's Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, Local Pride and Veterans, thanked players, supporters and participating organisations for helping the lottery reach this significant milestone:
"This year marks eight years of the Telford and Wrekin Community Lottery, and it's fantastic to celebrate how much has been achieved during that time. Together, our players have helped raise an incredible £262,329 for more than 80 local good causes, helping organisations deliver services, support residents and strengthen communities across the Borough.
"Every ticket purchased over the last eight years has contributed to something bigger, investing in local people, local projects and local communities. I'd like to thank everyone who has bought a ticket and supported the scheme over the years.
"As we celebrate this anniversary, we hope even more residents will get involved, helping us raise even more money for local organisations and ensuring these valuable groups can continue their great work for years to come."
The funds raised through TWINCL have enabled local groups to continue delivering services, invest in new ideas and reach more people in the community. Over the past eight years, funding has supported a wide range of local causes.
The Anstice Community Trust has benefited from almost £12,700 through the scheme, helping support a thriving community hub that brings people together through activities, events and community services, while Telford Crisis Support has received almost £10,050, helping it continue supporting residents facing hardship and crisis.
Funding has also benefited many other local organisations including TADLOP, Telford & Wrekin Parkinson's Support Group, Park Wrekin Gymnastics Club, Newport Canals Trust and Telford Steam Railway.
