Thousands of people came together throughout 2026 to enjoy a diverse programme of events that showcased the best of the Borough's communities, culture, heritage, and green spaces.

The season began with Spring into St George's Day, before residents gathered for the spectacular Embers Fire Festival, which once again illuminated the Ironbridge Gorge. Hundreds also took part in Telford Walk Week, encouraging people of all ages to get active and explore the Borough's parks, paths, and open spaces.

The summer programme continued with celebrations for Armed Forces Day, recognising the contribution of serving personnel, veterans, and military families, while spectators lined the streets to cheer on competitors at the hugely popular Krazy Races event.

The opening of the new Amphitheatre in Telford Town Park added another exciting venue for cultural and community events, while the return of the Telford Balloon Fiesta provided a spectacular finale to the summer season, attracting families from across the region.

The positive impact of the Borough's events programme has also been reflected in the local economy, with Telford Centre reporting a 3.2% year-on-year increase in footfall during July, outperforming the UK benchmark by 1.6%. The increase has been directly linked to events taking place at the Amphitheatre and across Telford Town Park, highlighting the important role events play in attracting visitors and supporting local businesses.

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, said: "Our events programme continues to play a vital role in bringing people together, supporting our communities and showcasing everything that makes Telford and Wrekin such a fantastic place to live, work and visit.

"This year we've welcomed thousands of residents and visitors to events across the Borough, from community celebrations and active lifestyle events to major festivals and family entertainment. The enthusiasm shown by those attending demonstrates the important role events play in creating memorable experiences and supporting local pride."

"I'd like to thank our fantastic colleagues involved in making these events possible, including organisers, volunteers, partners, performers, sponsors and attendees. Their support helps ensure Telford and Wrekin continues to offer a vibrant and varied programme throughout the year."

While the summer season may be ending, our Events Team are already preparing for an exciting programme of autumn and winter events.

Residents can look forward to celebrating Telford Day at Ironbridge Gorge on 29 November, before enjoying the return of the much-loved Festive Gardens and the magic of Telford Theatre's pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, from 15 December 2026 to 2 January 2027. Festive Gardens will take place on 10-13, 18-20 and 22 December 2026, with dedicated SEN Nights on 17 and 21 December, helping ensure festive experiences are accessible and welcoming for everyone.
