Residents and visitors are invited to step out and explore the Borough as Telford Walk Week returns from Monday 25 May to Sunday 31 May 2026, offering a week-long celebration of walking, wellbeing and the great outdoors.
Delivered as part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s events and culture programme, the week features a diverse programme of free walking activities for all ages and abilities, encouraging people to get active while discovering Telford’s green spaces, heritage and communities.
The programme includes a wide variety of walks designed to suit all interests and abilities, from relaxed family friendly nature walks and accessible routes to more challenging longer distance trails. Highlights include scenic countryside routes, heritage and history walks, wildlife focused experiences and themed guided walks led by knowledgeable local experts, giving participants the chance to discover Telford’s landscapes, green spaces, and cultural stories in new and engaging ways. Many walks are free or low cost, making the week accessible and inclusive for everyone.
The week will conclude with Telford’s Big Walk on Sunday 31 May, a mass participation event bringing together multiple walks from across the borough, all finishing with a celebratory meet-up in Telford Town Park.
Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture & The Arts, said: “Telford Walk Week is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy being active, connect with nature and explore the many beautiful places that make our borough so special.
“As part of our events and culture programme, this week supports healthier lifestyles while bringing communities together in a fun, inclusive way. Whether you’re joining a guided walk or taking part in Telford’s Big Walk, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Many of the walks link to existing local programmes, making it easy for residents to continue walking beyond the week and build lasting healthy habits.
