Spooky savings: 50p bus fare offer for Halloween half-term
Telford & Wrekin Council is offering residents a seasonal travel treat this October half-term, with single fares reduced to just 50 pence across all council-operated bus routes. No broomsticks required.
From Monday, October 27 to Sunday, November 2, all single journeys on Travel Telford services will be reduced to just 50 pence.
This pricing will apply to routes 99, 100, 101, 102, and 103, and forms part of the council’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible, affordable, and reliable public transport for residents across the borough.
Councillor Ollie Vickers, Cabinet Member for the Economy and Transport, said: “We recognise the importance of affordable transport, particularly during school holidays when families and young people are travelling more frequently.
“This half-term fare reduction is a practical way to support residents, ease travel costs, and encourage greater use of our council-run services. Whether you're heading to a haunted high street, a pumpkin patch, or just popping to town, this offer makes travel easier and eerily affordable.
“With over 650,000 journeys already made, these routes are playing a vital role in connecting communities to education, employment, and essential services.”
The council’s bright red buses, easy to spot even on foggy nights, continue to offer one of the lowest single fares in the UK: £2 for adults and £1 for children. The 50p promotional fare adds extra value for passengers during the half-term period.
Passengers can plan journeys and access real-time updates using the Citymapper app, which integrates both council and public bus services, making travel across the borough more convenient than ever.
