Silkin Way set to reopen

The popular walking and cycling route has been closed at this location after a sinkhole appeared.

Further work is planned this week to clear trees and vegetation, with the council aiming to reopen the path once the remaining work has been completed.

Councillor Carolyn Healy, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Planning and Sustainability, said

"We're really pleased to be getting the Silkin Way ready to reopen and welcoming people back onto this popular route.

"We know how important it is for residents and visitors who use it for walking, cycling and enjoying the park, and we understand the frustration the closure has caused.

"I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. It’s great that we are now close to restoring access and allowing people to enjoy the route once again."

The repairs are a temporary measure while the Council continues to work with external stakeholders to develop a longer-term solution.
