School place applications for September 2027 are now open
Parents and carers across Telford and Wrekin can now apply for school places for children due to start primary, junior or secondary school in September 2027.
Families with children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023 will need to apply for a primary school place, while those whose children are due to transfer from year two to year three must also submit an application for a junior school place.
Applications for primary and junior school admissions must be submitted by 15 January 2027.
Parents and carers of children born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016, who are due to start secondary school next year, should apply by 31 October 2026.
Families are encouraged to include up to four school preferences on their application to maximise the chances of securing a preferred place.
Applications for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) should be submitted by 31 October 2026, regardless of whether they are starting primary, junior or secondary education.
To help families make informed choices, schools across the Borough will be opening their doors over the coming months through a range of open days and evening events, giving prospective pupils and their parents the opportunity to meet staff, tour facilities and learn more about school life.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said:
"Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions families make, and we encourage parents and carers to take the time to explore all of the options available to them before submitting their application.
"Visiting schools in person can be incredibly valuable. Open events provide a chance for children and their families to experience the school environment, meet teachers and ask questions, helping them feel confident about their choices.
"Our admissions information is also available online, giving parents helpful guidance on the application process, key deadlines and how places have been allocated in previous years.
"Ensuring children have access to high-quality education is central to our ambition to protect, care and invest in our communities, creating a better borough where every child has the opportunity to thrive and achieve their potential."
Parents and carers will receive confirmation of their child's school place on the national offer days, with secondary school offers issued in March 2027 and primary school offers issued in April 2027.
