Route 100 Rolls Out New Timetable
From Monday 21 July 2025, Telford & Wrekin Council will introduce a revised timetable for its Express 100 bus service, aimed at boosting reliability and improving access to key destinations for residents across the borough.
The updated schedule is the direct result of community feedback, with residents requesting more frequent buses during peak hours, improved reliability in the mornings, and greater access to essential locations such as employment zones, healthcare facilities, and transport hubs including Telford Central railway station.
Councillor Ollie Vickers, (Lab) Cabinet Member for the Economy & Transport said: “The 100 is one of our most important and well-used services, connecting people to jobs, healthcare, and education across the borough.
“We’ve listened carefully to what residents have told us, and we’re acting to make the service even better. These changes are part of a wider transformation of our council-run network - designed to make public transport in Telford and Wrekin more reliable, more accessible, and better value for money.”
These changes are designed to improve reliability, increase access to key destinations, and better align with the needs of workers, students, and residents across the borough.
Operating seven days a week from 5am to 11pm, the 100 service connects areas including Princess Royal Hospital, Wellington, Hortonwood, Stafford Park, Brookside, Woodside, Halesfield, Sutton Hill, and Madeley. For many, it has become a lifeline - regularly described as “reliable,” “essential,” and “the only viable option” for work, medical appointments, and late-night journeys.
Several users described it as the only viable option for late-night travel from Wellington or the town centre to areas like Madeley and Sutton Hill. However, feedback also identified areas for development, including:
- Feedback regarding reliability issues particularly during the morning peak
The revised timetable comes into effect on Monday, July 21 and aims to:
- Reduce waiting times during peak periods
- Address reliability issues in early mornings
- Enhance journey efficiency across the full route
Later this summer, passengers will see a refreshed bus design across Travel Telford vehicles - making council-operated services easier to spot when you're out and about. This new look helps people quickly identify which buses offer the £2 flat fare, ensuring it’s simpler than ever to catch the most affordable ride in the Midlands.
These improvements form part of the Council’s wider programme to modernise its public transport network, delivered through its in-house team Travel Telford. With more than 600,000 passenger journeys recorded to date, investment continues in accessible, affordable services designed around what residents need most.
Telford & Wrekin Council remains one of the few local authorities to run its own bus services, investing directly to keep communities connected despite financial pressures. The revised timetable is available here.
