Plans submitted to transform shop frontages in Donnington
Telford & Wrekin Council has submitted plans to improve shop frontages at The Parade in Donnington.
Improvements, which will be funded by the Council’s Pride in Our High Street programme, have been proposed for units 1 and 2, 4-13 and 15 and will include new shopfront glazing and frontages, external shutters and updated signage.
Subject to planning approval, contractor Morris Property will carry out the works this summer and aim to complete them by the autumn.
Morris Property completed the renovation of shop units on Limes Walk in Oakengates earlier this year as part of the town’s Theatre Quarter project.
Pride in Our High Street is supporting all these businesses on The Parade with a series of facade grants.
The facade grant can range from £500 to £3,000 and can be used to paint shop frontages and replace signage where needed, repaint roller shutters and replace roller shutters with retractable trellis which looks more appealing on the high street.
Councillor Ollie Vickers, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs, Transport and Digital Connectivity, said:
“Councillor Fiona Doran and I have been engaging with the businesses on The Parade, and we have found that many shop fronts are in need of repair, which is why we have been able to secure this funding through the Pride in Our High Street programme.
“We took the decision to expand the programme to include local centres as well as our high streets and this is why The Parade in Donnington is able to benefit from this funding.
“There are a range of businesses based at The Parade and if planning is approved these improvements to the shop fronts, as well as the signage, will make a big difference to the look and feel of those units.”
