Newdale Primary pupil scores top prize in Let’s Dine competition
A Newdale Primary School pupil found the back of the net with her World Cup-inspired football design.
Hebe’s colourful design earned her the top prize in Let’s Dine’s competition after it was selected from hundreds of designs submitted by schools across Telford and Wrekin.
Let’s Dine, Telford & Wrekin Council's school catering service, launched the competition as part of a programme of World Cup-themed activities taking place in primary schools. Alongside enjoying World Cup-inspired menus during England matches, pupils were encouraged to showcase their creativity through bold and imaginative football-themed artwork inspired by the tournament.
The high number of entries made the judges' decision a difficult one. After reviewing the winning entries from each school, Hebe's design was selected as the overall winner. She received the main prize of an age-appropriate tablet, while all school winners received a Foot Golf family ticket voucher.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said: "We were delighted by the enthusiasm and creativity shown by pupils across Telford and Wrekin. The standard of entries was incredibly high, and it was wonderful to see so many taking part and expressing their love of football through art and design.
"Congratulations to Hebe and all of the finalists. Competitions like this help bring pupils together, encourage creativity and make supporting England memorable for our young people."
The competition was designed to help pupils engage with the FIFA World Cup while having fun, expressing their creativity and coming together to support England.
