The cards have been distributed to school pupils across the Borough, encouraging children to take part in the programme and explore ten enriching activities before their 10th birthday.

Working with schools and local organisations, Telford & Wrekin Council has brought together a range of activities and offers, many of them free, giving children opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence and explore the world.

The ten activities are:
1. Join in competitive sports
2. Play an instrument
3. Learn to swim
4. Take part in drama and performing arts
5. Visit the seaside and the countryside
6. Experience museums, galleries and heritage sites
7. Take part in camping trips and overnight residential
8. Learn to ride a bike
9. Take part in debating
10. Use a library

Every primary school in Telford and Wrekin is part of the 10 by 10 programme, with children having the opportunity to use their adventure card to tick off each activity and celebrate their achievements along the way.

Families can also sign up to discover local events, activities and offers designed to help children make the most of the opportunities available.

Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said: "Starting school is an exciting milestone and the perfect time for children to begin their 10 by 10 journey.

"The adventure cards encourage children to try new activities and celebrate their achievements, whether that's learning to ride a bike, visiting the seaside for the first time or joining a sports team.

"10 by 10 is about opening doors to opportunities that every child should have the chance to enjoy throughout their childhood. We want children across Telford and Wrekin to build confidence, embrace new experiences and create lasting memories as they learn, play and thrive. The 10 by 10 initiative is about more than just ticking off a list of activities; it’s about fostering a sense of curiosity and inspiring them to dream big and reach their full potential.”

Parents of younger children can also explore 5 by 5, which encourages children to experience five key activities before starting school and is the perfect stepping stone to 10 by 10.
