New Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Telford and Wrekin elected for 2026 / 2027

The new Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin have been elected at the Council’s Annual General Meeting.

At the meeting last night (21 May), Councillor Nathalie Page was elected as Mayor of the Borough of Telford & Wrekin for 2026/27, having previously served as Deputy Mayor during 2025/26.

Councillor Page is a ward member for The Nedge and has been an elected member of Telford & Wrekin Council since 2024.

Councillor Raj Mehta was elected as Deputy Mayor for 2026/27. Cllr Mehta, a ward member for Horsehay and Lightmoor, previously served as Mayor of the Borough in 2022/23.

During her year in office, the Mayor will represent the Borough at civic events and support local community groups, voluntary organisations and good causes across Telford and Wrekin.

It is also the role of the Mayor to support charitable fundraising during their term of office. Councillor Page has chosen to support the Lingen Davies Cancer Support Sunflower Appeal, which aims to raise £5m to build and open the first dedicated cancer treatment centre in Telford and Wrekin in 2029.

Mayor of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin, Councillor Nathalie Page, said:

“It is a great honour to be elected as Mayor of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin, following my year serving as Deputy Mayor. I am proud to represent our communities and look forward to meeting residents, businesses and organisations from across the borough over the coming year.

“As Mayor, I am passionate about supporting our local area and championing the people and places that make Telford and Wrekin such a special borough.

“A central part of the Mayor’s role is to support and champion the incredible voluntary and community sector we have here in Telford and Wrekin. I am really looking forward to working with local charities and organisations over the year ahead, helping to raise awareness and funds for causes that make a real difference to people’s lives across the borough.”

At the same meeting, Cllr Arnold England was reaffirmed as Speaker, and Cllr Julie Kaur was announced as the Council’s new Deputy Speaker.

The Council Leader, Cllr Lee Carter, also reconfirmed his Cabinet for the coming year, including changes to some Cabinet titles:

  • Councillor Richard Overton remains as Deputy Leader and is now the Cabinet Member for Safer Streets and Better Housing.
  • Councillor Paul Davis is now the Cabinet Member for Strong Communities, Local Pride and Veterans.
  • Councillor Zona Hannington is now the Cabinet Member for Finance and Resident Services.
  • Councillor Carolyn Healy is now the Cabinet Member for Planning, Neighbourhoods and Sustainability.
  • Councillor Angela McClements is now the Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure.
  • Councillor Kelly Middleton is now the Cabinet Member for Public Health and Unlocking Opportunities.
  • Councillor Shirley Reynolds is now the Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Education and Skills.
  • Councillor Paul Watling is now the Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Independent Living.
  • Councillor Ollie Vickers is now the Cabinet Member for Jobs, Transport and Digital Connectivity.
