Newly branded Council buses will be rolling out over the next few weeks, bringing a fresh new look to services offering one of the lowest fares in the country.

The new designs will make it easier for passengers to spot Council-run services, which cost just £2 for adults and £1 for children (Under 19). These changes are part of wider timetable improvements following contract renewals.

Residents can start to see the updated distinctive red buses in service from Monday 15 September. Due to the rolling schedule, people can expect a mix of old and new branding as the refresh is rolled out.

Councillor Ollie Vickers, Cabinet Member for the Economy and Transport said: “We want people to know these buses belong to them – people should be able to get to the places they need, work, hospital appointments or to see friends and family or get to school or college.

“They’re part of our commitment to making travel in Telford and Wrekin easier, greener, and more affordable.”

The six routes operated by the Council include the 99, 100, 101, 102, 103 and 104, offering residents a reliable and cost-effective way to travel around the borough where buses are less frequent, helping to plug the gap in public transport operated by commercial services.

The Express 100 connects major industrial estates, Wellington, and the Princess Royal Hospital, and provides direct transport for pupils attending Telford Priory School, including after-school sessions.

The 101 service supports students travelling to Charlton, Ercall Wood, Telford Langley, Telford College, and Lawley Academy. This route is also open to the wider public, linking Madeley, Dawley, and Lawley with Wellington and the hospital.

Routes 102 through to 104 serve the rural areas of north Telford and Wrekin, helping residents in smaller villages access the Princess Royal Hospital, Newport and Wellington interchanges, and onward travel options.

The 99 service was introduced to help cover areas affected by reduced Arriva services. It runs through Admaston, Dothill, Hadley, Ketley Bank, Malinslee, Overdale, Telford Town Centre, and Wellington.

Telford & Wrekin Council is committed to a wide range of investments and maintaining valued front-line services, whilst continuing to charge the lowest rates of Council Tax in the Midlands.
