New homes available to reserve across Telford and Wrekin
Dozens of Nuplace homes offering contemporary style living have launched this week across Telford and Wrekin as major heritage restoration projects near completion.
Nuplace, Telford & Wrekin Council’s wholly owned housing company, has released details of 60 properties across four new developments in Wellington, Oakengates, Ketley Bank and St Georges. This comes off the back of the recently released and fully let scheme at the former New College site in Wellington.
With finishing touches now being made, there are a range of homes, including bungalows, houses and apartments all available to reserve online and will be ready to move into in the coming months.
At The Gower in St George’s, thirteen properties are now available to reserve, including the conversion of three dwellings within the former community hospital, built in 1873. An additional ten new homes within the curtilage of the Grade II Listed building are also available.
Telford & Wrekin Council has worked closely with St Georges and Priorslee Parish Council to deliver a sympathetic restoration of the building and to provide new homes as well as new parish council offices and a community space for local residents.
The Gower will also offer electric charging points for a number of the properties and communal use, supporting people to switch to low carbon transport.
In Ketley Bank, a former Victorian school, has been sympathetically restored to provide seven 1, 2 and 3 bedroom contemporary Nuplace homes.
In addition, the development also offers a further twenty one 2 and 3 bedroom new build homes to the rear of the building, including five bungalows.
In the heart of Wellington, the former YMCA landmark building on Walker Street is being transformed to offer retail space on the ground floor plus nine Nuplace apartments (eight 1 bedroom and one 2 bedroom) on the first and second floors.
A further ten 1 and 2 bedroom apartments are also available to reserve off Limes Walk in Oakengates above refurbished retail units.
Councillor Carolyn Healy, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Planning and Sustainability, said:
“We’re bringing four quality restoration projects forward this week to provide dozens of homes for local people in the heart of our communities.
“While many of our developments focus on new build homes, we want to explore every opportunity to preserve historic buildings, maintain their character and give them a new purpose.
“Within these four developments, we have provided a wide variety of homes, including bungalows, apartments and houses.
“Where possible, we have also introduced energy saving measures, including solar panels and electric car charging points, to support residents to bring down energy costs and the Council’s commitment to tackle climate change and reduce the Borough’s carbon footprint.
“The homes will be offered on a first come, first served basis, so we’d urge people to register an interest with us as soon as possible.”
