Local experts inspire the next generation through Urban Games
Young people across Telford and Wrekin will have the opportunity to learn from some of the borough's most experienced coaches, instructors and activity leaders as Urban Games returns this half term. (October 26-30)
While thousands of children and young people take part in Urban Games activities each year, organisers Telford & Wrekin Council, say the real strength of the programme lies in the organisations and professionals who deliver it.
Behind every Urban Games session is a coach, instructor, development officer or community organisation committed to helping young people achieve their potential.
Delivered by Council's Building Safer & Stronger Communities team, Urban Games is supported by a network of trusted local organisations, including AFC Telford United Foundation, Telford Community Basketball, Shropshire Cricket, 4 All Foundation, Love.Play.Active, Telford Bike Hub, Telford Hockey Club, Wrekin Flyers BMX Club, Spotfest Pro Wrestling, Telford Netball and Shropshire Wildlife Trust.
Together, they bring specialist coaching, expertise and activities directly into neighbourhood parks, MUGAs and community spaces, helping young people build confidence, develop new skills and discover new interests close to home.
Councillor Paul Davis, Cabinet Member for Strong Communities, Local Pride and Veterans, said: "Urban Games has become a much-loved part of the school holidays, but what often goes unseen is the incredible network of coaches, instructors and organisations who make it possible.
"These are passionate professionals who spend their time helping young people develop skills, build confidence and discover new opportunities. Their expertise is what makes Urban Games such a success year after year.
"By bringing these activities directly into local communities, we're creating positive opportunities for young people while supporting our ambition to build cleaner, greener and safer neighbourhoods."
Urban Games is free to attend and open to children and young people aged 0-16. Sessions take place in parks, MUGAs and community spaces across Telford and Wrekin, with no booking required.
