This annual initiative raises vital funds for local charities, and this year’s beneficiaries include Severn Hospice, Hope House Children's Hospice, The Telford MNDA, Telford Prostate Cancer Support Group, Telford MIND Support Group, Shropshire Search and Rescue, and the Veteran's Café in Madeley.

Alongside Rotary Club members, Leader of the Council, Cllr Lee Carter, and David Sidaway, Chief Executive, attended to express their admiration for the Rotary’s continued dedication to supporting the community and align the vision of protecting and caring for residents.

Cllr Lee Carter said: “Every donation, every name, every message helps shine a light on the causes that matter most to our residents. I’m proud to stand with the Rotary and our community in supporting this appeal, which brings hope and comfort to so many during the festive season.”

Last year, thanks to the generosity of local residents, the appeal raised £40,000. This year, the goal is even more ambitious - £50,000 - and everyone across the Borough can get involved by:

  • Donating online: Visit the newly launched website at www.telfordtreeoflight.org.uk to make a donation. For just £5, you can dedicate a message in memory of a loved one including a special Pet’s Page to honour beloved animals.
  • In-person forms: Application forms are available at Customer Services in Telford Centre. Simply fill one out and return it at the desk or by post using the envelope provided.
  • Visit the Tree: Names and messages will be displayed around the Tree throughout the festive season, maintained by local Rotarians and updated weekly.

Donations will be accepted right up until Christmas Day, so there’s plenty of time to take part and help make a difference.

Telford & Wrekin Council is proud to stand alongside the Rotary in celebrating community spirit and supporting those who need it most.
