Just over one week left to have your say on Local Plan modifications
Residents, businesses and stakeholders are being reminded that there is just over one week remaining to have their say on proposed modifications to the Telford and Wrekin Local Plan.
Telford & Wrekin Council launched a six-week consultation on Monday 8 June into modifications recommended by the independent Planning Inspectors, alongside proposed amendments to policy maps and minor revisions to the Plan. The consultation closes on Monday 20 July.
The proposed modifications were identified following the Local Plan Examination Hearings earlier this year and have been suggested by the Inspectors to ensure the Plan can be found sound. Only the proposed modifications and changes are subject to consultation. It is not an opportunity to revisit or submit further representations on the published Plan, nor to seek additional amendments to it.
Councillor Carolyn Healy, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Planning and Sustainability, said:
"This consultation is an important final stage in the Local Plan process and I would encourage anyone who has an interest in the future development of our Borough to take the opportunity to review the proposed modifications and submit their comments before the deadline."
"The comments we receive will be passed directly to the independent Planning Inspectors for consideration as they prepare their final recommendation on the Plan. With just over a week remaining, now is the time for people to ensure their views are heard."
The consultation documents include a number of proposed modifications covering a range of planning matters. These include extending the Plan period to 2041, reflecting updated housing need calculations, strengthening affordable housing requirements and updating biodiversity net gain policies.
Copies of the proposed modifications, supporting documents and consultation materials are available online, where comments can also be submitted electronically: www.telfordandwrekinlocalplan.co.uk/info/1/home/23/main-modifications-consultation
Alternatively, hard copies of the proposed modifications and supporting documentation are available at libraries and community centres across the Borough, where feedback forms can be printed and completed before being returned by post.
All comments received during the consultation will be submitted to the Planning Inspectors. Following their consideration of the consultation responses, the Inspectors will make their final recommendation.
If approved, the Telford and Wrekin Local Plan will then be considered by Cabinet before being recommended to Full Council for formal adoption, providing the framework for where homes, jobs and infrastructure can be delivered across the Borough over the next 15 years.
