Inclusive Skating World Championships Presentations at Telford Ice Rink

A presentation of medals took place at Telford Ice Rink on Sunday 15 December to celebrate the achievements of team members who participated in the Inclusive Skating World Championships. The celebrations recognised the results achieved by Team Carter and was planned to coincide with World Ice Skating Day and also celebrated the spirit of inclusivity that defines the sport.

Sarah Carter coaches a team of inclusive skaters and took the team to the Inclusive Skating Virtual World Championships this month. Sarah coaches at Telford Ice Rink and the group Inclusive Skating train there.

Team Carter is composed primarily of skaters with additional needs and compete in Inclusive Skating events, where inclusivity, collaboration, and individual progress are celebrated.

The results from the Inclusive Skating World Championship competition for Team Carter are:

  •   Gold Medals: 41
  •   Silver Medals: 6
  •   Bronze Medals: 3
  •   Top Five Placements: 52
  •   World Records: 2

Sarah Carter the team’s coach said: “While we never compete solely for medals, these results highlight the incredible dedication and teamwork of our skaters and their families.

By fostering a supportive environment where every individual can thrive, we’ve shown that collective effort leads to remarkable achievements.

I am immensely proud of each and every one of them.  I would also like to extend our gratitude to the coaches and management at Telford Ice Rink for their continued support.  Their encouragement and resources play a vital role in helping our skaters achieve their best.”
