Help shape the future of transport in Telford and Wrekin
Telford & Wrekin Council is inviting residents, businesses and people who work in or visit the Borough to share their views on its draft Transport Plan, which sets out priorities for improving transport over the next 15 years.
The draft Telford and Wrekin Transport Plan (TWTP) sets out how future investment could support easier, safer and more reliable journeys. It covers walking, cycling, public transport and driving with the aim of improving access to jobs, education, healthcare, shops and local services.
The plan sets out a vision for a reliable and accessible transport that gives people access to travel options and supports a healthy, thriving and growing economy. It will replace the current Local Transport Plan, which was adopted in 2011 and reflects the changes that have taken place since then. These include population growth, increased demand on roads, changing travel habits, new ways of working and the need to reduce the environmental impact of transport.
As the Borough continues to grow, transport will play an important role in connecting people with opportunities, services and the places that matter to them. The draft plan considers how transport can support new and existing communities, respond to changing needs and make the best of existing infrastructure.
The consultation gives people the chance to comment on the priorities in the draft plan and share the improvements they believe would make the greatest difference
Councillor Ollie Vickers, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Transport & Digital Connectivity, said:
“Transport is part of everyday life for all of us. It is how we get to work or school, reach appointments, visit the shops and spend time with family and friends.
“We have set out what we believe the Borough will need over the next 15 years, but we now want to hear from the people who use our roads, buses, trains, walking routes and cycleways every day.
“We want people to tell us what works well, where they face difficulties and what would improve their journeys. Those experiences will help us make sure the final plan reflects what our communities need, both now and as we continue to grow.

People can complete the online survey at a time that suits them. Council teams will also attend events across the Borough throughout summer to speak directly with people and gather feedback.
