A new Borough-wide campaign is inviting adults, from all backgrounds, to register their interest in co-production and volunteering opportunities. Whether you use Adult Social Care services, support a loved one, or simply want to make a difference in your community, this is your chance to be heard.

Co-production – working together as equals to improve public services – is at the heart of how Adult Social Care operates in Telford and Wrekin. By bringing together the expertise of professionals with the lived experience of residents, the Council can build services that work better for everyone.

As part of this drive, the Council is recruiting volunteers for its Making It Real Board for 2026/2027. Meeting quarterly, the Board is co-chaired by someone with lived experience alongside the Cabinet Member for Social Care and the Director of Adult Social Services, giving residents a genuine seat at the table.

Board members help shape policy, influence local services, co-design improvements and test how accessible public documents are before they are published – with full training, development support and ongoing guidance from the Co-Production Team provided every step of the way.

Formal recruitment for the Making It Real Board opens in Autumn 2026, with a public information session taking place beforehand for anyone who wants to find out more first.

Cllr Paul Watling, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health Systems, said: “Co-production is not just a word we use – it is how we genuinely want to work.

“The people who use our services, their families and our wider community have knowledge and experience that we simply cannot replicate.

“By working together as equals, we can build an Adult Social Care service that truly meets the needs of everyone in Telford and Wrekin. I would encourage anyone with an interest in making a difference to get in touch.”
