Telford Theatre on Tour is proud to present the Telford Film Festival 2026, a new programme of outdoor cinema events taking place across Telford and Wrekin throughout the summer months.

The festival opens on Thursday 31 July at Harper Adams University with a screening of Disney Pixar's family adventure HOPPERS. Gates open at 4pm, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy a traditional hog roast, alongside vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, before the film begins at 6pm.

The screening is suitable for all ages, making it the perfect family evening out. Tickets are priced at £8 for adults, £5 for children, or £20 for a family of four.

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, said: "We are excited to launch the very first Telford Film Festival and to begin the programme at the fantastic Harper Adams University campus. The festival reflects our commitment to ensuring culture, entertainment and creative opportunities are accessible to communities right across the Borough. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to a summer of great films in some truly unique locations."

Professor Ken Sloan, Vice-Chancellor of Harper Adams University, said: "We are delighted to be hosting Telford & Wrekin Council's outdoor cinema screening of HOPPERS on campus. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring the community together and our campus provides an ideal backdrop for an outdoor cinema experience. We look forward to working with Telford & Wrekin Council to ensure a successful and memorable evening for all attendees."

Following the opening event, screenings will take place at a number of locations across the borough, including Hartshill Park in Oakengates, Broadoaks Playing Field in Donnington and Oakengates Theatre Square.

The festival has been designed to create relaxed, family-friendly experiences where residents can come together to enjoy great films in welcoming outdoor settings. From family favourites to feel-good classics, the programme offers something for all ages while celebrating the shared experience of cinema.

Tickets for the opening screening of HOPPERS and pre-booked food options are available through Telford Theatre website.

Telford Theatre on Tour has been developed to ensure residents can continue to enjoy a varied programme of cultural events while Oakengates Theatre undergoes refurbishment. The initiative brings theatre, film and live entertainment into communities across, supporting the Council's ambition to make arts and culture accessible to more residents in more locations.
