Families can now book funded Happy Healthy Active Holidays (HHAH) sessions for October half-term, bringing the popular programme to the autumn school holidays for the first time.

Organised by Telford & Wrekin Council and funded through the Department for Education's Holiday Activities and Food programme, HHAH provides free activities and healthy meals for eligible children and young people.

With activities taking place across the Borough, the extended October programme will run from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October 2026, giving children and young people even more opportunities to stay active, learn new skills, make friends and enjoy healthy meals during the school break.

Delivered by 28 providers across the Borough, the programme includes more than 128 sessions, featuring Halloween-themed activities, craft workshops, adventure days, sports and forest school experiences.

Eligible families can book up to four half-day sessions or two full-day sessions, with each child receiving four credits to use across the programme.

A healthy meal is provided at many sessions, while a range of activities are accessible and suitable for children and young people with SEND.

Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said: "I'm delighted that Happy Healthy Active Holidays is returning and, for the first time, will be available during October half-term.

“The programme has already helped thousands of children and young people enjoy fun, enriching activities during the school holidays, and we're pleased to be expanding that offer to families this autumn.

"There is something for everyone, from sports and outdoor adventures to arts, crafts and Halloween-themed activities. As well as providing opportunities to have fun, stay active and make new friends, many sessions also include a healthy meal and are accessible for children and young people with SEND.

"I would encourage eligible families to explore what's on offer and book their places early, so they don't miss out on what promises to be an exciting first October programme."

Parents and carers are encouraged to book early, as places can fill quickly.

As well as the happy healthy and active holidays programme, families can enjoy a wide range of free and low-cost activities across the Borough.
