Gorge-ous Rides Are Back! Ironbridge park & ride rolls In for Summer 2025
Telford & Wrekin Council is pleased to announce the return of the Ironbridge Gorge Park & Ride service for summer 2025, offering a convenient, sustainable and affordable way to explore one of the UK’s most iconic heritage destinations.
New for this year and in celebration of 40 years as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1986–2026), the Council has commissioned local artist Neil Willis (Snedshill) to revitalise the park & ride cabin.
The refreshed structure features vibrant graffiti art celebrating the area’s wildlife, landmarks, and heritage - including a tribute to Ironbridge’s legendary pork pies.
Councillor Ollie Vickers, (Lab) Cabinet Member for the Economy & Transport said: “Ironbridge is a unique and well-loved destination, and we want to keep it congestion free for visitors and residents alike.
“This summer’s Park & Ride service is a simple, greener way to explore the Gorge and enjoy everything it has to offer. It’s part of our broader commitment to improve transport across the borough for residents and visitors alike.”
Running from this weekend - Saturday 19 July to Sunday 14 September - the enhanced service will operate every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, helping ease congestion and improve access to key visitor locations during Ironbridge’s busiest months.
The route will serve popular attractions such as Blists Hill Victorian Town, Jackfield Tile Museum, Ironbridge Wharfage, and Madeley High Street – but it’s not just for tourists.
Residents as well as visitors to the area can purchase an all-day ticket for just £2, with children and concessionary pass holders travelling free. The service includes complimentary parking at the 250-space Jiggers Bank car park (TF4 3XH), and tickets are available onboard or online at www.telford.gov.uk/ironbridgeparkandride.
The Park & Ride has already supported several major events in the Gorge, including the WWII Festival in May and the Ironbridge Brass Band Festival which saw ?? passengers use the service.
It will continue supporting other events including the Ironbridge Coracle Regatta on September 14 and Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site Festival 12–14 September.
This relaunch aligns with Telford & Wrekin Council’s wider ambitions to redefine public transport across the borough.
With over 600,000 council-run passenger journeys recorded to date, improvements continue to focus on delivering reliable, accessible and value-for-money on the six of the council-run services. Visitors can expect more visible buses on the road, and timetable improvements, as well as a commitment to affordability - maintaining one of the lowest single fares in the Midlands.
Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and visit www.telford.gov.uk/parkandride for timetables and updates. For inspiration on places to visit or to find out more about free membership of Visit Telford for local businesses, head to www.visittelford.co.uk
