Get more active for summer with Activity for All

A wide-ranging new programme, part of Telford & Wrekin's commitment to getting every resident active, offers bespoke, affordable physical activity sessions for adults aged 18 and over living with a learning disability, running from April through to the end of September 2026.

Activity for All

Delivered in partnership with the Special Needs Activity Centre at Hollinswood and Randlay Parish Council, the programme reflects the Council's firm belief that staying active should be accessible and enjoyable for every resident regardless of age or ability and is funded by Sport England’s Movement Fund.

From adaptive cycling at Telford Bike Hub in Telford Town Park, to inclusive yoga, gymnastics, ten-pin bowling, outdoor adventure activities, interactive dance, dry slope tubing, and social swimming with exclusive pool hire at Newport Swimming Pool, the programme has been carefully designed to offer genuine variety and choice. Sessions are affordable, with prices ranging from as little as £2 per person for a swimming session to £17.50 for outdoor adventure activities at the Arthog Short Wood Outdoor Centre in Wellington. All sessions are led by qualified, experienced instructors, with the support of carers and family members welcomed throughout.

The programme is part of a wider suite of physical activity opportunities coordinated by Telford & Wrekin Council across the Borough, covering all ages and abilities. From junior sport and family fitness to older adult wellbeing activities, the Council's approach is to ensure that every resident can find something that works for them in their own community, at a price they can afford.

Councillor Kelly Middleton, Cabinet Member for Public Health, Healthier Communities and Unlocking Opportunities, said: “Every person in Telford & Wrekin deserves the chance to be active, to have fun, and to feel part of their community - and that absolutely includes adults with a learning disability.

“Activity for All is not a token gesture; it is a proper, sustained programme with real variety, real choice, and real support built in. We know that regular physical activity makes a profound difference to people’s health, wellbeing, and independence, and we want to remove every barrier that might stand in the way.

“This programme sits alongside everything else we are doing across the Borough to help residents of all ages and abilities get moving and I would encourage anyone who might benefit to book a place today.
