Fostering with the Council offers many benefits including competitive rates of pay, access to full training and resources and ongoing support from a dedicated fostering team.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said:
“As we celebrate Foster Care Fortnight 2025, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all foster carers for their unwavering dedication, compassion and love. We are incredibly thankful for everything our foster carers do to provide local children with secure, loving homes where they can thrive and reach their full potential.
“We know that fostering is one of the most rewarding and sometimes challenging jobs that the Council offers.
“We also know that not one size fits all, there are lots of different ways people can foster and there’s flexibility to work around people’s individual circumstances.
“Even if people can only foster for a few days a month, we encourage them to get in touch with the team, as part-time fostering opportunities are also available in addition to full-time ones.
“If anyone has ever considered fostering with the Council, please come along and meet the team at one of the events we’ve organised. There is no obligation, it’s just an informal opportunity for people to find out more.
“During the fortnight, we’ve also organised a number of events to thank foster carers for all their hard work with some fun activities for our children in foster care to enjoy too. We’ll be sharing more details about these during the fortnight.”
