Food hampers in time for Christmas
Food hampers will be delivered in time for Christmas to support 200 eligible families across Telford and Wrekin.
The hampers have been funded through Telford & Wrekin Council’s Happy, Healthy & Active Holiday Club.
Packed and prepared by Sainsbury’s in Telford, the hampers include approximately £50 worth of food items, including chocolates, mince pies, pasta, rice, tins of soup, rice pudding, cereal, milk, bread and baked beans.
The hampers will be distributed to eligible families with children attending Happy, Healthy & Active Holiday Club activities in the Christmas school holiday.
Children must have attended at least two sessions for a family to qualify for a hamper.
Activity sessions are taking place throughout the festive break and include tubing and tobogganing at Telford ski Centre, crafts, Christmas parties and get active sessions.

Councillor Shirley Reynolds (Lab), Cabinet member for Children, Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said:
“Christmas can be an expensive time for many of us, so I’m really pleased we’re able to offer support to families who will benefit the most.
“Each of the 200 hampers contains items worth around £50, but thanks to the support of Sainsbury’s and savings they were able to offer, have cost £30 each to put together.
“The hampers provide some food essentials and some treats for those children and young people who are eligible, and I hope they ease the pressure on families this Christmas time.”
The council’s Happy, Healthy & Active Holiday Club is funded thorough the Department for Education’s Holiday Activity and Food programme.
It supports children and young people who receive benefits related free school meals.
