First-ever October half-term Happy Healthy Active Holidays programme enjoyed by hundreds
Families enjoyed funded Happy Healthy Active Holidays (HHAH) sessions during October half-term, as the popular programme expanded into the autumn school holidays for the first time.
Organised by Telford & Wrekin Council and funded through the Department for Education's Holiday Activities and Food programme, HHAH provided free activities and healthy meals for eligible children and young people.
Delivered by 28 providers across the Borough, the programme featured more than 139 sessions, including Halloween-themed activities, crafts, sports, outdoor adventures and SEND-friendly activities.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Education, Employment and Skills, said:
“It has been wonderful to see so many children and young people getting involved and having fun during October half-term.
“As the first-ever HHAH programme to take place during the autumn school holidays, the positive response from families has been fantastic. From sports and outdoor adventures to creative activities, there was something for everyone to enjoy, while families also benefited from healthy meals and support.
“The programme gives children the chance to stay active, make new friends and try new experiences during the school holidays. I'd like to thank all of our providers and partners for helping make the programme such a success."
The programme supports the Council's child friendly vision for every child to have the best start in life, by ensuring they are healthy, safe, heard and happy.
