Everyone Belongs in the Saddle - Cycling Made Inclusive at Telford Bike Hub

This summer, residents of all ages and abilities are invited to experience the freedom of cycling in Telford Town Park, as Telford Bike Hub highlights a fleet of around 20 adaptive bikes designed to make riding more accessible than ever before.

Published on: 24 July 2025

Adaptive bike sessions run weekly at the hub, with additional pop-ups on Saturdays at Oakengates Leisure Centre throughout the summer. Each bike has varying levels of assistance ranging from hand bikes to carer-controlled functions tailored to accommodate young people and adults who may find traditional bicycles challenging.

The Bike Hub team will be on hand to provide advice and support on choosing the most suitable bike based on an individual’s needs as well learn about accessible and adaptable bike routes in and the park – and carers always ride for free.

Councillor Ollie Vickers, Cabinet Member for the Economy & Transport said: "We believe cycling should be for everyone. This investment reflects our commitment to removing barriers and opening up opportunities for residents to move more, feel confident and enjoy the outdoors in a way that works for them."

Set within one of the UK’s most celebrated green spaces - with smooth paths, quiet routes and stunning scenery - the Bike Hub offers around 20 purpose-built cycles that support a wide range of physical and sensory needs. Some have battery powered assistance and include:
