Early morning yoga sessions supporting local women through menopause and perimenopause
Local women experiencing menopause and perimenopause are being invited to take part in new early morning yoga sessions designed to support their physical and mental wellbeing.
The sessions, offered both in-person and online, aim to provide a gentle yet effective start to the day, helping women manage symptoms and feel more balanced.
Why Yoga?
Yoga is widely recommended for women going through menopause and perimenopause. Regular practise can lead to many benefits, including:
Supporting physical and mental health
Reducing stress and anxiety
Promoting relaxation, mindfulness, and better sleep
Improving flexibility, balance, muscle strength, bone density, and easing joint stiffness
Councillor Kelly Middleton Cabinet Member for Public Health & Healthier Communities said “We know that gentle, low impact exercise like yoga can be hugely beneficial for women going through perimenopause and menopause, so these new early morning ‘Breakfast Yoga’ sessions will be a powerful addition to a toolkit of options for women navigating this stage of life. I am proud that Telford & Wrekin Council has been certified as a friendly Menopause Employer, championing the importance of menopause friendly practises and support for staff.
Now through 'Breakfast Yoga' we can support more residents too. These early morning sessions will be a great start to the day, and the offer of in person and online sessions makes the programme even more accessible."
