Drop-in information sessions offer the chance to find out more about local Governance Review proposals
Telford & Wrekin Council is inviting residents, town and parish councils and other local stakeholders to attend a series of public information drop-in sessions as part of the second phase of its Community Governance Review.
These sessions are a key opportunity for the public to learn more about proposed changes to Town and Parish Council arrangements and to share their views.
Following extensive feedback from the first consultation phase, the Council has developed a set of draft proposals aimed at better reflecting community identities, addressing electoral imbalances, and ensuring effective local representation. The proposals include potential changes to ward boundaries and a slight reduction in the number of Town and Parish Councils.
To support community engagement, the Council is hosting several drop-in sessions across the borough:
- Friday 13 June, 11am–1pm at Newport Library
- Friday 13 June, 2pm–4pm at Wellington Library
- Tuesday 1 July, 10am–1pm at Madeley Library
- Tuesday 1 July, 2pm–4pm at Brookside Community Centre
Councillor Giles Luter, Chair of the Boundary Review Committee, said:
“These sessions are a great chance for residents to find out more about the proposed changes and to make sure their voices are heard. We have a series of information sessions during the daytime already planned and will shortly be announcing some evening ones as well, to make sure as many people as possible can have their say.
“Throughout this process we’ve listened carefully to community feedback and want to ensure the final arrangements reflect the needs and identities of our local areas. These draft proposals are the result of the first round of consultation, and the final outcomes may yet change, depending on the feedback we receive at this stage.”
The consultation is open until Monday 14 July 2025, and full details of the proposals, along with an online survey, are available at www.telford.gov.uk/cgr.
Comments and feedback can be given online, by email to reviews@telford.gov.uk or by post to: Community Governance Review, Electoral Services, Darby House, Telford & Wrekin Council, Lawn Central, Telford TF3 4JA
The outcome of any changes as a result of the Community Governance Review will then come into effect at the next local election, in May 2027.
