Discover Heritage Open Days in Ironbridge Gorge for just £4 with the final park and ride weekend of the 2026 season

Families can enjoy a great value day out during the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Festival this September, with travel around Ironbridge Gorge available for as little as £4 for a family of four.

Operating until the end of the season on Sunday 20 September, the Ironbridge Gorge park and ride service offers visitors a simple and affordable way to explore sites during one of the biggest heritage celebrations of the year.

Visitors can park free of charge at Jiggers Bank and enjoy unlimited hop-on, hop-off travel throughout the Gorge for £2 per adult. Children and concessionary pass holders travel free, meaning a family of two adults and two children can travel all day for just £4.

The service provides easy access to museums, attractions, cafés, independent shops and riverside locations across the Gorge, allowing visitors to spend less time looking for parking and more time enjoying their day.

Councillor Ollie Vickers, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for The Economy, said: “The Park and Ride is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to enjoy Ironbridge Gorge during Heritage Open Days.

“For just £4, a family of four can travel throughout the Gorge all day, explore heritage attractions, visit events and enjoy everything this world-famous destination has to offer.

“It’s also the final Park and Ride weekend of the year, making it the perfect opportunity for residents and visitors to make the most of the service before it returns next season.”

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure & Tourism, said: “Ironbridge Gorge is one of the region’s most cherished visitor destinations, offering a unique mix of history, heritage and family-friendly attractions in a truly special setting.

“Whether you’re discovering somewhere new or rediscovering a local treasure, there’s plenty to see and do for visitors of all ages.”

The Festival programme includes a range of free activities and events taking place across Ironbridge Gorge, including at sites now cared for by the National Trust.

One highlight is Industrious Women, a free Heritage Open Days event at Coalport China Museum and Broseley Pipe Works, celebrating the stories of women who worked within the area’s historic ceramic industries. Advance booking is required.

As well as offering excellent value, the Festival weekend also marks the final chance to use the Ironbridge Gorge Park and Ride service before it finishes for the 2026 season.
