Council welcomes Telford and Wrekin’s position as a UK business growth hotspot for 2026
Telford & Wrekin Council has welcomed new figures that place Telford and Wrekin among the UK’s top areas for predicted high-growth businesses in 2026.
According to the latest Growth Flag report, the Borough ranks third nationally, with 14 per cent of local businesses expected to achieve high growth next year. The result highlights the strength and ambition of the local business community.
The ranking reflects the impact of strong sector ecosystems and the support available to businesses across Telford and Wrekin, helping firms to realise their full potential and scale sustainably.
Through Invest Telford, the Council’s business support and inward investment service, Telford & Wrekin Council works with businesses at every stage of their journey, helping to create the conditions for growth across the Borough.
Councillor Lee Carter, Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, said: “This is a strong endorsement of the ambition and talent within our business community. Telford and Wrekin continues to be a place where businesses can grow and succeed, supported by the right environment and a Council focused on enabling opportunity. And people ask why we prioritise this? We want a thriving business sector because they then help create good, well-paid jobs for our residents. We will continue to prioritise being a business-winning, business-supporting Council including in our upcoming budget where we have announced significant funding to help continue the positive work and to attract business to relocate to Telford, stay in Telford and grow in Telford.
