Council issues statement on Spatial Development Strategy proposals
Telford & Wrekin Council Leader, Lee Carter, has issued the following statement regarding spatial development proposals.
Councillor Lee Carter, Leader of the Council, said:
“We have submitted a Spatial Development Strategy proposal on the basis of our already well-established links with the Black Country and the West Midlands. These links include a near decade long non-constituent membership of West Midlands Combined Authority and multiple decades in terms of business, trade, travel, housing and family links.
“For us, this Spatial Development Strategy is about delivering as much private sector investment, employment growth and benefits of economic development as is good for our residents.
“As for devolution, we are not involved in any other formal discussion at this stage and certainly don’t see this consultation on spatial development as predetermining our position on the development of a Strategic Authority.”
