Council extends Invest Telford business support funding

Telford & Wrekin Council has extended its support for local businesses with seven funding and advisory schemes under the successful Thrive Telford programme.

Delivered by the Council’s business support and inward investment team, Invest Telford, the refreshed funding programme builds on a strong track record of success. To date, the programme has awarded over £1.5 million to 268 business-led projects, helping local enterprises invest, innovate, and create new jobs.

Part funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the extended programme will continue through to March 2026 and includes:

  • Business Start Up Service –workshops and mentoring for aspiring entrepreneurs
  • Business Growth Enabler – expert guidance for scaling businesses
  • Business Energy Advice Service – support to reduce energy use and cut costs
  • Export Grants Fund – up to £3,000 for export-related activity
  • Innovate Telford – with delivery support from European Innovation. More details coming soon
  • Large Grants Fund – £3,000 to £10,000 for business growth
  • Small Grants Fund – up to £2,000 for capital investment

Councillor Ollie Vickers, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for The Economy, said: “The Thrive Telford programme has already delivered impressive results, and we’re proud to build on that momentum. These new business support schemes are tailored to the real needs of our local businesses whether they’re looking to grow, innovate, or reduce costs. This is about unlocking potential, creating jobs, and strengthening our local economy for the long term.”

The funding is part of a wider UKSPF investment of £7.75 million across Telford & Wrekin, supporting both business and community-focused initiatives.
