Community Carnival Day to bring Telford Balloon Fiesta to a colourful close

Residents are invited to celebrate Telford’s rich cultural diversity at a free Community Carnival Day taking place in Telford Town Park on Sunday 30 August, bringing this year's Balloon Fiesta festivities to a vibrant finale.

Starting from 12.30pm, the family-friendly event will showcase a wide range of performances and community groups from across the Borough, highlighting the cultures, talents and community spirit that make Telford such a welcoming place to live.

Visitors can enjoy performances and displays from:

  • Interfaith representatives
  • Jodi Dancers
  • Hezron Basketball
  • Cheer Unleashed
  • Bulgarian Folk Dancers
  • Kalli Drummers
  • Telford Academy of Performing Arts
  • Cheer Athletics.

The event has been designed to bring communities together through music, dance, sport and cultural celebration, with a particular focus on the valuable contribution made by Telford's interfaith and multicultural groups.

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, said: "Our Community Carnival Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes Telford such a vibrant and welcoming Borough.

"As we bring the Balloon Fiesta to a close, we're inviting residents of all ages and backgrounds to come together and enjoy an afternoon of culture, performance and community spirit.

"This event reflects the values of inclusion, friendship and understanding that are so important to our communities, and I encourage everyone to come along and be part of the celebrations."

The Community Carnival Day is free to attend and will offer a packed programme of entertainment throughout the afternoon, providing the perfect ending to the Balloon Fiesta weekend.
