Delivered by AFC Telford United Foundation and supported through Telford & Wrekin Council's Building Safer & Stronger Communities programme, KIX provides free weekly football sessions for boys and girls aged 11 to 16 at locations across the borough.

Recognised nationally as the National League Trust's Project of the Year, the programme has grown from a single session in Dawley into one of Telford and Wrekin's most successful youth engagement initiatives, supporting hundreds of young people every year.

While football brings young people together, KIX is about much more than what happens on the pitch. Sessions provide safe, welcoming spaces where young people can socialise with friends, stay active, access positive activities and develop relationships with trusted adults in their local communities.

Through regular participation, young people are encouraged to build confidence, improve their wellbeing, develop teamwork and communication skills and feel more connected to the places where they live.

Councillor Paul Davis, Cabinet Member for Strong Communities, Local Pride and Veterans, said: "KIX is a fantastic example of how positive activities can make a real difference to young people's lives.

"The programme gives young people somewhere safe to go, supportive role models to engage with and opportunities to build confidence, develop friendships and improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

"We're proud to support initiatives like KIX through our Building Safer & Stronger Communities programme because they help create safer neighbourhoods, stronger communities and better opportunities for young people across Telford and Wrekin."

Tom Elliott, AFC Telford United Foundation Manager, said: "For many young people, KIX is much more than a football session. It's a place where they feel welcome, supported and valued.

"Every week we see young people building confidence, making new friends and developing important life skills alongside enjoying football. We're proud to work with Telford & Wrekin Council and our partners to provide opportunities that help young people thrive both on and off the pitch."

The programme forms part of the Council's wider commitment to creating safer and stronger communities by providing positive activities for young people and helping to reduce social isolation.

Its success has been built on strong partnerships and long-term community engagement, with some former participants now returning as volunteers to support and inspire the next generation of young people taking part.

KIX sessions are free to attend and open to boys and girls aged 11 to 16 across Telford and Wrekin.
