The achievement marks a significant milestone for the service and recognises the exceptional work undertaken across all four facilities to provide high-quality, accessible and inclusive aquatic programmes that support the health and wellbeing of local residents.

Achieving accreditation across all four Telford & Wrekin Leisure sites is a testament to the dedication, professionalism and commitment of colleagues working throughout the service. It reflects the continued focus on creating welcoming environments where people of all ages and abilities can improve their physical health, mental wellbeing and social connections through swimming and water-based activity.

The success also reinforces Telford & Wrekin Leisure's reputation as a leading provider of accessible and impactful leisure and wellbeing services, helping to create healthier and more active communities across the Borough.

The accreditation also complements Telford & Wrekin Leisure's commitment to ensuring activities are not only accessible but affordable. Through the Telford Loyalty Card (TLC) Leisure Concession Scheme, residents can benefit from a range of discounted and free leisure opportunities, including free swimming for under-25s, discounts for over-50s, carers and people eligible for disability benefits, helping more people access the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of swimming despite ongoing cost of living pressures.

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, said: “We are incredibly proud that all four of our swimming facilities have achieved the Swim England Water Wellbeing Accreditation. This is a fantastic accomplishment and reflects the dedication, expertise and passion of our teams.

“The accreditation recognises our commitment to providing accessible, inclusive and high-quality services that support the health and wellbeing of residents across Telford and Wrekin. It is particularly rewarding to see all four sites achieve this nationally recognised standard.”

“Swimming has the power to improve physical health, mental wellbeing and social connection, and this accreditation demonstrates that our facilities are helping people of all ages and abilities access those benefits in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.

"We're committed to removing barriers to participation, and through initiatives such as our Telford Loyalty Card Leisure Concession (TLC) Scheme, we're ensuring that residents can access the health and wellbeing benefits of swimming at an affordable cost during challenging economic times."

Andrew Power, National Health and Wellbeing Manager at Swim England, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the team towards this accreditation, they have taken their commitment to making their facilities more accessible, welcoming and inclusive very seriously and I look forward to seeing the impact of this work in the coming months and years, along with the benefits it will bring for local communities.”

The accreditation is valid for two years and provides independent recognition of the positive impact Telford & Wrekin Leisure continues to make through its aquatic and wellbeing services.
