£400,000 investment to improve Limekiln Roundabout
Major drainage and resurfacing scheme will help keep traffic moving on one of Telford's key routes with the Council investing £400,000 to improve Limekiln Roundabout.
The scheme was delivered in two phases and is designed to improve the condition of the carriageway, reduce future maintenance requirements and improve drainage at the busy junction.
Phase one focused on drainage improvements, including the installation of five new gullies and 60 metres of new carrier drain. Phase two saw the full resurfacing of Limekiln Roundabout, covering approximately 9,400 square metres of carriageway. As part of the project, a further 600 square metres of repairs will be completed on nearby Telford Way, alongside drainage cleansing and the renewal of road markings.
The investment forms part of the Council's ongoing £91m programme of highway improvements across the Borough over four years, helping to maintain the roads, footways, bridges, drainage systems, street lighting and other key assets and support residents, businesses and commuters.
Councillor Nathan England, Cabinet Member for Safer Streets and Better Housing, said:
"Limekiln Roundabout is a key route used by thousands of motorists every day, so it is important that we continue to invest in maintaining and improving this busy section of the network.
"This £400,000 scheme will not only provide a high-quality new road surface but will also improve drainage, helping to reduce future maintenance needs and improve resilience in wet weather.
"We appreciate that highway works can cause some temporary disruption, but these improvements deliver long-term benefits for road users and help keep people moving around the Borough."
This long-term approach to investing into highways has helped Telford & Wrekin Council consistently achieve some of the highest resident satisfaction ratings for highways and transport services both regionally and nationally.
