Telford and Wrekin draft Local Plan consultation enters final week

Residents, businesses and stakeholders have just one week left to have their say in the Telford and Wrekin draft Local Plan consultation and help shape future developments across the borough.

Telford and Wrekin draft Local Plan consultation enters final week

The 14-week consultation, which opened in October 2023, sets out a framework for development and land use until 2040 and asks people for their feedback.

The plan aims to ensure a good mix of homes for all types of people, protect public green spaces and the environment, regenerate borough centres and market towns, help older people in the community to live well, attract new businesses and jobs, and support climate friendly development. It includes a range of options, to ensure the borough evolves in line with local communities’ needs and aspirations.

Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Homes and Enforcement, said: “The Telford and Wrekin draft Local Plan consultation aims to create a framework for development and land use across our borough, setting out what development can happen and where, between now and 2040.

“The draft Plan contains a range of options, not all will need to be progressed to the final plan, so it’s important people have their say so that views can be taken into account. People can give their feedback online, by email or by post and copies of the draft Local Plan are available at libraries and community centres too.

“Throughout the process we’ve listened to feedback received, extending both the length of the consultation and the number of consultation sessions held around the borough, and ensuring people have the information they need to be able to give informed feedback.

“If you haven’t done so yet, please have a look at the draft Local Plan and let us have your feedback, so it can be taken into account when the final plan is drawn up later this year.””

Feedback on the Telford and Wrekin draft Local Plan can be submitted:

Copies of the draft Local Plan are also available at libraries and community centres across the borough.

The 14-week Telford and Wrekin draft Local Plan consultation is open for comments until 5pm on Wednesday 31 January 2024.
