Telford & Wrekin Homes launches its latest properties

Three of the six properties have been let at open market rents with the remaining three being made available to support people currently living in temporary accommodation.

Telford & Wrekin Homes launches its latest properties

Telford & Wrekin Homes is the council’s latest housing initiative which aims to breathe new life into Telford’s existing housing stock.

Last year the council announced it would refurbish around 134 homes for a mixture of private and affordable rent, to provide high quality homes for rent across the borough.

As a key part of  Nuplace - the council’s wholly owned housing company - Telford & Wrekin Homes offer quality properties for tenants to rent. Whereas Nuplace delivers homes on a build to rent basis, Telford & Wrekin Homes secures the renovation of existing properties which may otherwise blight our communities.

The latest Telford & Wrekin Home properties are located in Woodside, Donnington, Dawley, Madeley and Overdale.

Councillor Richard Overton (Lab) Cabinet Member for Homes and Enforcement said: “In Telford and Wrekin it is our priority to ensure that every resident is offered a good quality, secure and affordable place to live and Telford and Wrekin Homes is all about raising the standard of rental homes across the borough to ensure that local people have these opportunities. I am delighted that these latest homes have been reserved by residents so quickly – the properties have received a huge amount of internal and external works including bathroom and kitchen refurbishments, carpentry, plastering, and mechanical and electrical upgrades so we know they will make fantastic homes for our residents to enjoy and make their own.”
