Week to go before Big Walk Week event!
With just a week to go before Big Walk Week starts in Telford and Wrekin spaces are being snapped up by those looking forward to getting out to explore the area.
Big Walk Week is part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s 2023 event programme and takes place from 29 May to 4 June with a range of trails, events and sessions for all. A full list of the events can be found at www.visittelford.co.uk/bigwalkweek.
Councillor Carolyn Healy (Lab) Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for leisure, climate action, green spaces& heritage said:
“We are really looking forward to a fantastic week of events, this programme looks at providing sessions for all and includes forest schools, mindfulness walks, family-friendly trails, storytelling walks and many more. These are free events and some of the walks include free refreshments and provide the opportunity to get out and explore on your doorstep.”

The week of walking activities finishes with a mass walk event on Sunday 4 June. There are five routes to choose from each exploring the stunning scenery of Telford along the way. All the walks will meet up in Telford Town Park at 3pm for a celebratory drink and cake. Each route offers a number of alternative pick up points along the way offering walks of varying lengths.
The routes for Sunday 4 June are;
Route 1. South West Anti Clockwise from SuttonHill, Max 9 miles, Min 2 miles.
Route 2. North West From Shawbirch to Tee Lake, Dothill then Clockwise with a short cut, Max 17.5 miles, Min 4 miles.
Route 3. North East Clockwise from Newport, Max10.5 miles, Min 2.5 miles.
Route 4. Silkin Way from the South Coalport, Max4.5 miles, Min 1.5 miles.
Route 5. Silkin Way from the North From Bratton, Max 9 miles, Min 2 miles.
